Chapbook News - early December

The deadline for Bateau Press's 4th Annual BOOM Chapbook Contest (poetry) is December 31, 2009. The winner will receive $500 and copies of their chapbook. The past winners are Allison Titus, Ryan Flaherty, and Allan Peterson.

And the other night, I attended Poetry Lab at The Soundry in Vienna, Virginia, and met folks from the following two presses. Check out future Poetry Lab events, held the first Friday of each month, except for January 2010.

Poetry Lab host, Stevenallenmay, runs Plan B Press, which publishes both chapbooks and full-length books. Recent chapbooks include Chris Bullard's You Must Not Know Much, which won Plan B Press's 2009 Poetry Chapbook Contest.

Tony Mancus, who will be a featured reader at an upcoming Poetry Lab, is co-founder of Flying Guillotine Press, which specializes in small-run (74!), hand-bound poetry chapbooks. The press's most recent offering is All the Little Red Girls, by Angela Veronica Wong.
